Combined Technical & Quality Audits
The main purpose of this service is to verify compliance with international codes and standards (eg ISO, DNV and API) which enables the placement of a "Quality Management System" at the manufacturers, ensuring consistent quality.OSG has formed a group which has worked in the steel making industry and line pipe manufacturing business for many years and has performed many audits for the major operators and governments worldwide. We believe the credibility and reputation of the auditors is very important to the success of an auditing service as our excellent team exemplifies.
Typical Activities Include:
1) Detailed documentation review comparing procedures with actual manufacturing activities and verifying that the procedures are being followed correctly. For example, typical activities for line pipe manufacturing would include
- Skelp procurement specification and methodology
- MPS for microalloyed steel skelp, plate and pipe
- ITP
- Quality Plan
- Welding and Repair Welding Procedures
- Handling and Storage Procedures For Welding Consumables
- Non Destructive Evaluation for carbon steel plate, and pipe
- Dimensional Control Procedures
- Typical MPQT's.
- Review of records of internal audits and corrective actions
3) Attend pre-production audits at the pipe mill, other fabrication sites and coating plants, in order to ensure that all processes and systems are capable of consistently producing line pipe and components, such as forgings and induction bends according to the project specifications.
4) Review manufacturing procedure specifications (MPS), quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITP), welding procedures (WPS/WPQ’s), forging and heat treatment procedures, NDE procedures, coating procedures, material traceability systems, productions plans and schedules, QA/QC procedures and other various documentation used as the basis for manufacturing of various components.
5) Resolve any technical problems, non-conformances and fabrication deviations.
