Cathodic Protection
Services
OSG can assist with the following services regarding cathodic protection:
- Review of onshore and offshore pipelines and structures, including impressed current and sacrificial anodes
- Detailed anode specification preparation
- Anode manufacturing and installation requirements
- Guidelines on commissioning, monitoring and maintaining cathodic protection systems
- Advising on cathodic protection systems inspection requirements and methods

Impressed Current Cathodic Protection Systems
Electrical Isolation
Pipelines shall be:- Electrically isolated from other pipelines and structures that are protected by impressed current systems
- Electrically isolated from other structures that could drain current from the pipeline cathodic protection system
- Compatible with adjacent structures and associated cathodic protection systems.
Electrical Interference
Interference with adjacent structures induced by the pipeline CP system needs to be addressed.Critical Design Parameters
Protection Potential, Closed circuit anode potential, Anode Electrochemical Capacity, Anode Utilization factor, Maximum Anode Spacing, Anode Current Density, Environmental Resistivity, Metallic resistivity, Coating Breakdown Factor, Anode composition.Design Codes
