OSG Materials Consultants was formed in October 2008 by Dr Paul Laws. Dr Laws and his team are well qualified and each have over 20 years work experience, related to the offshore and petrochemical industries. Their responsibilities have included managing all aspects of materials including
materials selection and
welding,
coating technology,
corrosion management,
non-destructive evaluation services and
asset integrity , on a large number of projects globally. OSG currently has specialists available worldwide.
We also have a network of independent consultants available to assist in some of the more complex technical issues, for example AUT system qualifications, corrosion modeling techniques and material requirements for high strain applications and critical assessments. Specific technology development areas where OSG is focusing their efforts include, clad versus lined CRA pipe, materials selection for complex subsea equipment, properties of 13Cr, DSS and SDSS, cryogenics, high strength steel grades X80 to X120, high strain applications, coating technology for arctic and high temperature service and CO2 sequestration.
OSG Materials Consultants is focused on advancing materials selection, to accommodate the more severe service conditions including, ultra deepwater applications, arctic service, HP /HT systems, sour gas, environments containing high levels of CO2, fatigue And high strain applications. OSG is also focusing on life cycle costing, to help optimize the materials selection choices, by taking into account the CAPEX versus OPEX costs, associated with onshore and offshore developments, such that overall costs are minimized, while providing a fit for purpose solution.
Our company is very familiar with all of the national, international and major operator codes, standards and specifications and OSG is in the process of preparing a set of materials specifications, which can be utilized by potential clients.
OSG also offers an auditing service to verify manufacturer’s capabilities and we also have an extensive network of well qualified and reliable welding and NDE inspectors, who can oversee all aspects of quality control, related to materials testing, qualification programs, factory acceptance tests and the manufacturing of all subsea related components. OSG has recently formed a strong team of individuals who have worked in the steel making, line pipe and forging manufacturing business for over 25 years and have performed many audits for major operators and governments worldwide.
OSG has recently started to assist major operators with consulting solutions by providing well qualified and experienced individuals for a wide range of disciplines including project and construction management, reservoir and geophysicist experts, mechanical, chemical and process, electrical, instrumentation and control, subsea controls and equipment,quality assurance and integrity and risk management. OSG is also providing consulting services for power generation, aviation, alternative energy solutions, manufacturing, refineries and litigation issues.
